The large tire factory has officially started operations and deliveries have begun!
Nokian Tyres has started delivering tires from its new plant in Oradea, Romania. The first products delivered to customers and consumers in Central Europe through the Nokian Tyres distribution center include winter and all-season tires.
Strategically located close to consumers and customers in Central and Southern Europe, the Romanian plant will focus on the production of passenger car tires for these markets. The plant is the world's first full-scale zero CO₂ emission tire factory, uses no fossil fuels for all energy, and produces tires using state-of-the-art technology.
“This week marks the start of tire deliveries from our plant in Oradea, Romania. The first trucks loaded with Oradea-made tires departed the plant to deliver the tires to our distribution centers and then to our customers and consumers in Central and Southern Europe. The plant, the world’s first full-scale zero CO₂ emission tire factory, will strengthen our ability to serve consumers and customers in Central and Southern Europe and beyond and support our growth.
Reaching this milestone less than two years after breaking ground on the plant is a major achievement for us and I am very proud of the Nokian Tyres team who worked so hard to make this happen. I would also like to thank all of our partners and Romanian officials who helped us along the way,” said Paolo Pompei, President and CEO of Nokian Tyres.
First new passenger car tire range produced in Romania
The company recently launched Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2, the first passenger car tire range produced at the Romanian plant. The all-season tire range includes sizes for modern passenger cars, SUVs and CUVs and will be available to consumers in Central and Southern Europe by fall 2025. The tyre has excellent grip on snow and mud, and also offers excellent performance and a smooth ride in summer. Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 has up to 38% renewable, recycled and ISCC PLUS certified materials*. This is the company's first tyre to go into commercial production with such a high percentage of renewable and recycled materials. In the coming months and years, the company will launch new products produced in Romania for drivers in Central and Southern Europe.
Award-winning plant
The Romanian plant celebrated its groundbreaking in May 2023, with the first tyre produced in July 2024. Since then, the plant has received three prestigious awards:

The Romanian plant is the company's third production plant after Nokia in Finland and Dayton in the United States. Nokian Tyres has launched a recruitment campaign in Romania, especially in Bihor County, to attract skilled workers. The plant employs around 300 workers. The recruitment process is still ongoing and the total number of employees is estimated to be more than 500 when the plant is at full capacity.
